This long awaited website is dedicated to everyone who has fished with Bluesails Sportfishing over the years, & to those who would like to experience fishing in the pristine waters off Kuala Rompin, Malaysia. We would like to express our appreciation to those who have supported us in the past and to those who have continued to support us.

Bluesails Sportfishing’s main veteran guide, Mike Tan - a certified IGFA Captain first fished the waters off Rompin in 1996 after making contact with the local pioneer skipper and other boatmen during off-roading trips to nearby Endau Rompin National Park, & was thrilled to discover the Sailfishing potential of this previously unknown spot. Sailfishing in Rompin was later introduced to the region when a magazine article was published in 1997.

After wetting his lines as a recreational fisho for numerous years at K. Rompin, Mike Tan started Bluesails Sportfishing & Off-Road Adventures in 2003 after witnessing that much better standards, service & expertise could be implemented.

Bluesails Sportfishing has since expanded based on word of mouth & selected ads targeted mainly at the expatriate community in Singapore and the region. Over the years we’ve had expats from Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Australia, New Zealand & even Shanghai simply through word of mouth!

After word got out about the great Sailfishing in Rompin several fishing guides with no local knowledge who were totally dependent on the local boatmen started setting up operations in Singapore and Malaysia. Many of these guides do not have the expertise or knowledge of international game fishing standards, but are seizing the chance to make a quick buck from ill-informed anglers. We hope this website will assist you to make a better informed choice.

Bluesails Sportfishing caters mainly to international game fishos from the well-travelled expat community in Singapore & the region who would like to experience personalized service and a well-organized, hassle-free, & comfortable game-fishing experience based on international recreational fishing industry standards. We believe that quality service, optimal fishing results, comfort & expertise are essential to the running of a professional fishing charter.

Bluesails Sportfishing has a well run, systematic approach to fishing, hitting the different GPS 'bus-stops' to ensure consistent Sailfishing action, and making use of FADs (fish attracting devices) to offer almost pin-point fishing. We do not believe in trolling blindly and taking clients for a boat ride like many charters in the world!
