Bluesails Sportfishing is based in Singapore. The Billfishing season in Kuala Rompin starts in mid-March & runs thru mid-November. It’s about 3 hrs drive from Singapore & is really a hassle-free trip.

A typical itinerary (2D 1N) from S'pore is as follows:

We leave at 5.30 am latest on Saturday morning to avoid the morning jam at the check-points, arrive in K. Rompin by 8.30am, have breakfast till 8.50am & head to the jetty to start fishing by 9am till 5pm. The guide drives a 2004 Ford Escape SUV, but you're welcome to convoy up with him if you prefer driving your own car & at your own pace. There will only be one pick-up & drop-off pt in S'pore for the group joining the guide. You're also welcome to drive yourselves to Summerset Resort at anytime & the guide will meet you at the hotel lobby Saturday morning at 8 am, but please be reminded to leave by 4pm latest on any week day or it will be a very slow ride due to the heavy traffic at the checkpoints and along the route all the way up to Mersing.

For anglers from K. Lumpur, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Shanghai & other parts of the region you will be expected to make your own way either to Summerset Resort or to Singapore.

After the day's fishing on Saturday, we chill-out till 7.30 pm then head to a local Asian restaurant for dinner (you won't be disappointed if you like Asian food). Alcohol is not included in the cost but major beers are sold in the town and at the restaurant. We start Sunday morning with breakfast at the resort or in town (your preference) at 7 am & head out to the jetty at 7.30 am for a full-day of fishing until 4.00 pm. Eta in S'pore on Sunday evening is 10pm.

You will almost certainly see, catch & land your Sailfish in 2 full-days of fishing. As always, it’s more than a 100% effort on the part of the guide to get you the fishing results & put you on line with these magnificent Sails. This is our assurance to all our clients. 

Boat specs

The native pioneer skipper with more than 20 years experience has a 30ft fiberglass boat with twin-outboard motors (Mercury saltwater 4-strokes twin 90hp), standard safety equipment onboard & first-aid box, latest GPS, fish-finder, binoculars, bait well, large cooler box with ice as well as toilet facilities. The boat is clean, fast, safe, spacious, and has plenty of shade. It seats 5 comfortably excluding the guide & captain (official licensed seating capacity is 7 max).

The boat is well maintained, clean, comfortable & conducive, and being a smaller boat is ideal for billfishing as it offers maneuverability & speed to point the angler in the direction of the fish and give you close personal interaction with the fish at boatside.

Bluesails fishing equipment comprises mainly Shimano reels such as TLD15s, 20s, 25s & 30As 2-speed 10-15kg Shimano backbone game fishing rods along with 30-50lb class lines. Nothing heavier as we believe in giving the Sailers a sporting chance. Gimbals are provided for stand-up fishing. Various models of Shimano spinning reels combined with other Penn rods & gear are used for bait-fishing, bottom, jigging & lure fishing.
